Mom of the Year right here.
That title is one I earned recently.
I knew we were struggling in the reading department. But when she would sit and focus on the word, she could sound it out, no problem. Reading signs outside wasn’t an issue. No headaches. No squinting to read things. None of the classic symptoms.
We were due for our yearly eye exams, so we went. I knew this would be the moment of truth.
Glasses or no glasses.
The truth is sometimes hard to swallow, but there is freedom in that truth.
We BOTH left with prescriptions for glasses.
Both of us!
Back to School Savings at JCPenney Optical
Did you know that JCPenney has an optical department?
While you are out grabbing last minute Back to School deals, check out their deals on glasses (until September 30th):
For your kids, there is the Back to School Sale! One pair for $39.99 plus free eyeglass protection plan (to protect against kids just being kids. Valid for kids 16 and under).
There is a great special for adults too! Get 60% off 1 pair OR 2 pairs for $99.99 plus free no-line bifocals.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when we walked to through the doors with our prescriptions for glasses. Would it be easy to find frames? Would they be stylish or would they make me look like an old lady with my gray hair and wrinkled skin?
If you aren’t sure what shape of glasses best fit your face or what kind of lenses to get, I highly recommend JCPenney Optical for your prescription glasses needs. They were SO helpful and friendly.
We had fun modeling glasses for each other. It was the perfect Mommy and daughter Back to School date. While looking at glasses we talked about school and any hesitations she had. She was super excited about school and meeting new friends.
We tried on SO many glasses to find just the right ones.
There were so many choices, it was kind of hard to narrow them down.
It was much easier for my daughter to decide which ones she liked best. She was so excited about wearing her new glasses. There was never a question about whether or not her friends would laugh or make fun of her. Mommy, on the other hand is still unsure of this new found discovery and contraption on her face.
There were plastic frames, metal frames. Square, oval, round, rectangle frames. Any shape and color is available. There are even different kinds of lenses available.
I narrowed it down to these two. I liked the shape of the bottom ones but the color on the inside of the top ones. Which ones do you like best?
Here’s a better shot of the inside so you can really see the color.
Isn’t it gorgeous?!
With kids who don’t typically like to sit still for long, the process for finding and getting fitted for glasses was a breeze. My oldest especially loved getting to pick out the frames she liked best and then deciding on which ones to choose with me.
The Final Selection
Out of all of the frames we tried on, we decided on these.
The first words out of her mouth when she tried them on, “I can see clearly!!”
Even if your child isn’t showing the classic signs of needing glasses, it might be worth a visit to JCPenney Optical for their yearly eye exam and to check out their great selection of prescription glasses. You know, just in case.
