100 Brilliant Family Activities for Spring
I go into each season ready to be more intentional about my time spent with my family. But then life gets in the way and good intentions don’t translate into quality time spent together. It’s not that there aren’t things to do. There are so many free and cheap family activities for Spring that I get decision fatigue and do nothing.
Tell me I’m not alone in this.
I mean well. I want to spend quality time with my family. Our budget is super limited in this season of unemployment, so I tried to make a list of free and cheap activities we can do together as a family. Some of these might be a splurge, but worth the memories.
Cheap is sometimes hard with a family of six. Check out Groupon and City Guides for discounted tickets to local businesses and events. Sometimes their websites have special online prices when you buy tickets in advance. I have included affiliate links to make finding products easier.
100 Free Family Activities for Spring
1. Decorate eggs for Spring decor (think beyond dying Easter Eggs).
2. Have a picnic in a park.
3. Blow bubbles. I prefer to make our own bubble solution because the bubbles seem stronger (if that makes sense).
4. “Let’s go fly a kite. Up to the highest height.” To quote one of my favorite movies, Mary Poppins, go fly a kite together.
5. Dust off the jump ropes and get some exercise together as a family.
6. Dig out the sidewalk chalk and draw family portraits.
7. You can also use the sidewalk chalk to make a hopscotch design.
8. Go hiking.
9. Take your family on a Nature Scavenger Hunt (includes a free printable).

I hadn’t thought of making a bird feeder! I’ll have to do that.
My goal with my son this spring is to go outside for a half hour every morning before we do anything else, and to start a garden. I’m going to go broke buying tomatoes all the time, I need to grow some for him! My son is obsessed with tomatoes!
We also like to color with chalk and go for walks. He really loves to bird watch, too.
I love the garden idea! A bird feeder will be a lot of fun. It could even turn into a science lesson!
