Thank you to Maty’s Healthy Products for sponsoring this important conversation.
When I became a mom, everything changed. I started making my own DIY cleaners along with using baking soda and vinegar and researching essential oils. I switched out all of our plasticware to glass and vowed to never own plastic toys. This is also around the same time that I started switching out everything in our medicine cabinet. I was on a mission to create my own natural medicine cabinet.
There was so much information out there it was overwhelming. Did I really need EVERYTHING that was mentioned? What’s a tincture? Do I have time to make that? Not to mention our budget for replacing everything was small. But I was determined to make it work. If I could only buy one or two things each week, then so be it. It would eventually be stocked with everything we would need.
If you are looking for details on how to build your own natural medicine cabinet, look no further. Know that this isn’t an exhaustive list. It’s more like your starter guide to a healthy family. Also, know that we don’t use these remedies in place of seeking medical support when needed. If you have any questions, please consult your doctor. Thank you, Maty’s Healthy Products, for sponsoring this post, all opinions are my own.
Building Your Own Natural Medicine Cabinet
Coconut oil is amazing. I seriously use it for everything. When my kids were babies, we used coconut oil when they had diaper rash. I use it to dilute essential oils when applying them to our skin. I use it in my nighttime lotion base. I cook with coconut oil. We have several jars stashed around the house because it’s so versatile.
Elderberry syrup is a must, especially during cold and flu season. You can make it yourself or buy it premade. I want to try my hand at making gummies with it by adding unflavored gelatin.
Colloidal Silver is another one we always have on hand to clean cuts, for ear infections, and sore throats.
Local honey is great with warm tea to help soothe itchy, scratchy throats.
Bentonite Clay is great for drawing out splinters, covering burns, drawing out yuck from cuts and scrapes, and so many other things.
Essential Oils are a hot topic. My advice, do your own research. We love using essential oils either by applying them diluted to our bodies or diffusing them in the air.
Apple Cider Vinegar is another one we are never without.
Activated Charcoal helps bind yuck together in your stomach and get it out of your body. We take it for upset stomachs and when we have been out and about during cold and flu season.
Arnica gel for bumps and bruises is a must.
Maty’s Organic Cough Syrup soothes dry, irritated throats with 10 immune boosters.
Maty’s All Natural Children’s Cough Syrup quickly calms coughs and soothes little throats.
Maty’s All Natural Baby Chest Rub is petroleum and menthol free. It’s safe for children 3 months and older. It’s perfect for their chest or even the soles of their feet.
Maty’s All Natural Acid Indigestion Relief is great because it helps improve digestion while promoting healthy stomach acid levels with no side effects or drug interactions.
Maty’s Organic Children’s Cough Syrup contains USDA Certified Organic ingredients. It soothes dry, irritated throats naturally.
Having cool mist humidifiers and essential oil diffusers around the house are also helpful, but you won’t find those in our medicine cabinet. We use those year-round. I hope you found this list helpful as you build your natural medicine cabinet.
