Looking out the window, I saw four very excited children running and jumping through the snow, as if for the first time.
While it wasn't their first time seeing snow, it was their first time really being able to play in snow. While this may sound strange to some, if you grew up in North Carolina, you understand.
Snow isn't the same everywhere.
While everyone agrees that the universal term for the white stuff that falls from the sky is snow, in the South, it's less fluffy, and more icy. If we missed the snow as it fell, then usually by the time we were able to venture outside, the “snow” crunched under our feet. We could sometimes make a snowman, but usually it was a tiny one since we had less than an inch or two.
Colorado snow on the other hand is fluffy and packable.
To celebrate this new snow, we thought these white chocolate covered, chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies would be perfect to make snowmen. I have used affiliate links in this post. I may receive a commission at no cost to you.
Chocolate Covered OREO Snowmen
1 cup white chocolate or candy melts
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
12 orange chocolate covered sunflower seeds or candies
Place the candy melts in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat for 25 seconds, stir well, and repeat as necessary.
Place one OREO in the bowl and flip with a fork.
Let the extra candy drip off the OREO.
Set on a sheet of parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Repeat with all OREOs, completely covering each one with white chocolate or candy melts.
Carefully start placing the mini chocolate chip “eyes” on all of the OREOs, as shown.
Follow up with the orange noses.
Then the chocolate chip mouths.
Let set for 30 minutes before serving or packaging.
Enjoy your chocolate covered OREO snowmen!
