Although I am taking a tiny little blogging break this week, when I got the email last night from Lisa-Jo Baker with the prompt for 5 minute Friday, I knew I needed to write. But I tried to ignore that little voice. And I did, until it screamed that I needed to write about worship. So, here it is. Better late than never, right?
We were created to worship. God knit every fiber in our bodies together to worship and glorify Him. If our priorities are not right, if we do not know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, if we have fallen away and don’t make time with Him a must do, we will worship the world. We may not even realize it.
You see, our hearts are idol factories. If Jesus isn’t on the throne of our hearts, something else will take His place. We were made to worship. We may worship friends, social media, money, our children, spouse, healthy living. The list could go on and on. And sometimes it’s so subtle, you may not even notice. That is until you are knee deep in the muck and despair of sin, looking for a way out.
And He’s there. Ready to pick up His children out of the muck and mire. Standing there with open arms. Our Creator. The one who loves us when we don’t deserve it. The one who sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins.
I am left in awe. I don’t deserve His love, and yet He freely gives it. No strings attached. My response, to worship and glorify the one true God.
